A full minute conversion chart

Every minute from 0 to 60

The minutes to decimal calculator lists each minute in an hour, so 17 minutes, 38 minutes, and 59 minutes do not need a separate lookup.

Any nonnegative input

Enter 90, 125, or another minute total. The conversion reference divides the entered number by 60.

Use the copy control after checking the displayed minute value and decimal hours.

Quick conversion examples

Fifteen minutes

15 ÷ 60 = 0.25 hours.

Forty-five minutes

45 ÷ 60 = 0.75 hours.

Ninety minutes

90 ÷ 60 = 1.50 hours, which is one hour and thirty minutes.

How to use this calculator

Enter your own numbers, review the result, and use it as a clear gross-pay or time estimate. Important payroll, tax, and employment decisions should be confirmed with your employer or an appropriate professional.

Formula and assumptions

Decimal hours = minutes ÷ 60.

All money results are estimated gross pay before taxes and deductions. Time calculations use integer minutes before display rounding.

Worked example

45 minutes ÷ 60 = 0.75 decimal hours.

Minutes to decimal calculator behavior

Visible formula

The conversion uses decimal hours = minutes ÷ 60.

Two-decimal display

Values are shown to two decimal places for a readable payroll-style reference.

No pay estimate

This tool converts time only. It does not apply a rate, overtime rule, or tax calculation.

Convert the minute total

The conversion reference begins with a total number of minutes. Divide by 60 because one hour contains 60 minutes. For 37 minutes, 37 ÷ 60 = 0.6166 repeating, displayed as 0.62.

When the input is more than 60, the same rule applies. For 125 minutes, 125 ÷ 60 = 2.0833 repeating, displayed as 2.08 hours.

Use the right rounding point

Convert the complete minute total before rounding. Adding individually rounded pieces can produce a different result from converting the final total.

The minutes to decimal calculator is a reference tool. If an employer system requires a particular increment, use that stated policy after checking the original minutes.

Use the complete minute total

The minutes to decimal calculator is easiest to audit when you add minutes first. For example, 35 minutes plus 50 minutes equals 85 minutes. Then 85 ÷ 60 equals 1.4166 repeating, displayed as 1.42 hours. Converting the pieces separately and rounding both can produce a different total.

The 0 to 60 chart is a reference for the minute portion of an hour, not a substitute for adding a complete duration. If a time entry is 3h 40m, convert the full 220 minutes or add 3 plus 40 ÷ 60. The conversion reference supports either review path.

Read repeating decimals correctly

Some minute values end cleanly in decimal form: 15 minutes is 0.25, 30 is 0.50, and 45 is 0.75. Others repeat. Twenty minutes is 0.3333 repeating and forty minutes is 0.6666 repeating. The displayed two-decimal value is useful for reading, while the underlying conversion still begins with the full minute total.

If another system rounds to tenths instead of hundredths, apply that rule only after the conversion. Thirty-five minutes is about 0.58 to two decimals and 0.6 to one decimal. Save the original 35-minute value beside the converted number so a reviewer can understand why two systems may display different precision.
