Annual$60,000.00
Monthly$5,000.00
Biweekly$2,307.69
Weekly$1,153.85

Convert across periods

The salary to hourly calculator shows annual, monthly, biweekly, weekly, daily, and hourly values from the selected amount and period.

Use your work schedule

Contract hourly pay is based on annual pay divided by hours per week times weeks per year. At $60,000, 40 hours, and 52 weeks, that is about $28.85.

See unpaid extra time

The pay conversion tool also shows an effective hourly rate when extra unpaid hours are included.

Salary comparison scenarios

Offer comparison

Compare two annual salaries using the same 40-hour and 52-week assumptions before changing the schedule.

Different paid weeks

Use 50 weeks instead of 52 when that is the assumption you need to inspect.

Extra work time

Add five unpaid extra hours per week to see how the effective rate differs from the contract hourly rate.

How to use this calculator

Enter your own numbers, review the result, and use it as a clear gross-pay or time estimate. Important payroll, tax, and employment decisions should be confirmed with your employer or an appropriate professional.

Formula and assumptions

Hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year).

All money results are estimated gross pay before taxes and deductions. Time calculations use integer minutes before display rounding.

Worked example

$60,000 at 40 hours for 52 weeks is about $28.85 per hour.

Salary to hourly calculator outputs

Contract hourly

The contract hourly figure uses only the entered hours and weeks.

Effective hourly

The effective figure includes entered unpaid extra hours and is clearly separate from the contract rate.

Gross values

All displayed amounts are gross estimates before taxes, deductions, benefits, or withholding.

Use the annual conversion

The pay conversion tool first converts the entered period to an annual amount. It then divides annual salary by hours per week multiplied by weeks per year.

For $75,000 at 40 hours for 52 weeks, the denominator is 2,080 hours. $75,000 ÷ 2,080 is about $36.06 per hour.

Read effective hourly carefully

If a $60,000 job requires five unpaid extra hours each week, the effective calculation uses 45 hours rather than 40. The annual salary stays the same while the assumed total hours increase.

This pay conversion tool does not value paid leave, bonuses, equity, taxes, benefits, or overtime eligibility. Use it as a transparent comparison, not compensation advice.

Compare the same salary fairly

Use the salary to hourly calculator with the same calendar assumptions for each offer. Annual salary alone is not enough. A $60,000 salary at 2,080 hours has a different contract hourly value from $60,000 at 1,820 hours. Put hours per week and paid weeks in writing before using either result.

Check period conversions against the annual number. For a simple 52-week year, annual pay divided by 26 gives a biweekly gross estimate, and divided by 12 gives a monthly estimate. The pay conversion tool does not assume that every month has the same number of workdays or that taxes are equal across paychecks.

Compare compensation with consistent inputs

Before comparing two offers, normalize both to the same hours-per-week and weeks-per-year assumptions. If one role expects 37.5 hours and another expects 45, dividing each salary by 2,080 hides a material schedule difference. Also note whether unpaid extra time is occasional or a normal part of the role.

The period outputs are arithmetic views of one gross annual amount. They do not add the value of health insurance, retirement contributions, paid leave, bonuses, or reimbursements. Keep those items in a separate comparison so the hourly conversion remains transparent and the broader compensation decision does not rest on one number.
